I’ve been making most of these recipes since I was a little girl in Canada and they have been enjoyed by at least three generations of my family. So from my home to yours, with love, here are my best Christmas squares recipes!
Best Christmas Squares Recipes
Auntie Irene’s Coconut Date and Cherry Christmas Squares are delicious mouthfuls of gorgeous Christmas flavour. I still remember the day I asked Auntie Irene for her recipe. I was only about ten years old and she was so happy to share. I have made them virtually every Christmas since then.
Aunt Dorothy’s Butterscotch Squares are super simple to make no bake squares that taste amazing. Aunt Dorothy is an great cook and always made catering for dozens of people look really easy. Aunt Dorothy also shared her fabulous butterscotch sauce recipe with me – I’ll be blogging about that in the New Year!
My Mom’s Mincemeat Oat Squares are a tasty twist on traditional mince pies. They are much easier to make too! My Mom was a fantastic cook and I always feel like she’s with me in the kitchen when I make one of her recipes.
I found this vintage recipe for Lemon and Walnut Squares in my late Mom’s recipe box. I didn’t find it until after my mom passed away. As it’s typewritten there’s a bit of a mystery about who gave my late mom the recipe and where it came from. What isn’t mysterious is how wonderful these sweet tart squares taste!
For a lovely taste of summer at Christmas, try my cousin Esther’s Blueberry Squares. Although I generally stick to local, seasonal ingredients, I’ve been known to splurge on fresh blueberries in December just to make these!
